Training Class Information
HumDOG class trainers come from its membership. Trainers go through a hands-on training qualification process and teach positive reinforcement training.
KINDERGARTEN PUPPY OBEDIENCE: This is an 8-week course that includes socialization, confidence building, and beginning basic skills for puppies 11 weeks to 6 months old.
AKC STAR (Socialization, Training, Activity, Responsibility): This is included in the Kindergarten Puppy Class and requires attendance at 6 of the 8 weeks of the course. It is for dogs under one year old. Testing in learned skills is given by an AKC-approved instructor. Upon passing the STAR puppy test, you may apply for AKC recognition, including a medal and certification. All puppies, not just AKC breeds, can participate.
BASIC OBEDIENCE: This is an 8-week course for all dogs over 6 months old, and includes basic obedience skills. It is appropriate for older dogs and graduates from the Kindergarten Puppy Obedience class.
RALLY: Rally training is a fun way to work with your dog and its obedience skills by following courses designed to put dogs and owners through their obedience paces.
OTHER: Basic and Puppy Obedience repeat classes are offered periodically, as well as classes in Canine Good Citizenship, Clicker Training, and Tricks.
COST: Check the Registration Form for the current prices of classes. For the Kindergarten Puppy and Basic Obedience classes there is a one-time discount for dogs adopted from humane societies or rescue groups.
REGISTRATION: Class sizes are limited, and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration is highly recommended. To pre-register, send the registration form, a copy of your dog's current vaccination records, and payment to the HumDOG address on the registration form.

NOTE: Dogs that are aggressive toward people are not allowed in training classes. This includes dogs that bite people when they are touched.
